provision

Good Friday.  A day of provision like never before.  Body and blood given for the sins of many.  God, the provider, giving staggering provision for us. 

What else is there that needs provision?  As the Apostle Paul argues from the greater to the lesser, "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?"  All things.  Really?  All?  Matthew Henry gives us this commentary, "Who can cut off our streams, while we have a fountain to go to?" 

Our wants may seem real, even dire at times.  Yet, the Father spared not even his own Son to make provision for our true need.  So, if there is true need, the Father will again provide, and in fact, in Christ does provide since from Him and to Him and through Him are all things.

Good Friday is a day of staggering provision.  Let it ring in your heart today that God is your provider.  And because of Christ, the greatest provision, all the smaller provisions are made possible for us too.  God loves us, we are his children.  He always provides.
